IONIA. Herakleia ad Latmon. Circa 140-135 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 32 mm, 16.71 g, 1 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with Pegasos springing to right above the foreparts of five galloping horses and a long tendril on the bowl, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. HPAKΛEΩTΩN Club to right; below, Nike advancing left, holding wreath in her right hand, between two monograms; all within oak wreath. Lavva, Silberprägung, Group II, B. Jameson 1503. SNG Lockett 2823. A lovely example of beautiful full Hellenistic style. The reverse struck slightly off center, otherwise, extremely fine.
